Do ads reflect YOUR family life? Parents not properly represented says poll

Parenting website Parentdish has found that around 70 per cent of parents feel they are not properly represented in adverts.

The site polled 2000 mums and dads for the study, and discovered most respondents were of the opinion that parenting as a whole was not realistically portrayed by advertisers.

More than half of the respondents (54 per cent) wanted to see more single-parent families in ads, while around 26 per cent disagreed and 19 per cent were unsure.

What do you think? Do you feel single parent families are featured enough in advertising? Or are they only ever used in comedic or stereotyped situations? The only adverts parentingsolo can think of which feature lone parents both focus on kids trying to set up their single mum or dad with a new partner. Because obviously that’s all solo parenting is about, looking for a new relationship…
