National Lottery win cannot buy you marital happiness…Millionaire couple split
A couple with two children who scooped a staggering £148million on the National Lottery EuroMillions are to divorce just over a year after their win, according to the Daily Mail.
Adrian and Gillian Bayford, who have an eight-year-old daughter and a six-year-old son, are said to be living in separate mansions ten minutes apart.
The pair’s massive jackpot put them at 488 in the Rich List and made them £23m wealthier than Eric Clapton.
A source close to the couple told the Sun that their current situation was very ‘sad’: “It’s such a shame because they are a lovely family with two young kids. And everyone around here was so happy for them when they won.
“They worked hard all of their lives and then came into this wonderful bit of good fortune. That’s why it’s so sad it’s ended like this.”
Gillian’s spokesman confirmed the couple’s split to the Sun, saying ‘Gillian Bayford confirms that her marriage to Adrian has broken down irretrievably and they have separated’.
