Shared parenting ‘damages’ kids

A childcare expert has claimed that kids who are being raised in separated families and with shared parenting can be damaged by having overnight stays with their fathers.

The Independent reports that in her new book, Family Breakdown, psychologist Penelope Leach states that  as a general rule, children of four and under should not have ‘sleepovers’ with their dads.

The paper says that Leach claims separated parents who attempt to ‘share’ their young children are putting ‘adult rights’ over the needs of the kids.  They add that her book cites ‘undisputed’ evidence that shows young children have reduced brain development and a tendency towards ‘unhealthy attachment issues’ when they are separated from their mums.
