X Factor dream is over for single mum Shelley Smith

The X Factor dream is over for single mum Shelley Smith.

Shelley, who celebrated her 35th birthday on Saturday, faced her second week in the sing-off, and lost out to boy band Kingsland Road.

Her mentor Sharon Osbourne told her to ‘sing for her life’ as she took to the stage to perform a heart-felt version of ‘Stop’.

The single mum, who lives with her seven-year-old daughter Madeline in Farringdon, Devon, had tweeted earlier in the day thanking her fans for their ‘love and support’.

Earlier in the series, the white van driver had said that it was her dream to be a ‘real recording artist’.

Shelley got her marching orders after Gary, Nicole and Louis  voted to send her home – despite Sharon desperately trying to persuade Louis otherwise.
